In the ongoing war of words between William Gallas and his former club Chelsea, this observation from Yahoo Sports:
"Gallas, who played 225 matches for Chelsea, was regarded by many Blues fans as the club's best defender and statistics suggest that he and John Terry formed their most effective centreback pairing."
I always thought that about Gallas too but didn't know that the stats supported his partnering with Terry over Carvalho.
Though he denies it, it wouldn't surprise me if Gallas finally did threaten own goals and red cards due to pressure and head-games from Mourinho--in order to leave a club he clearly came to despise.
In fact, Gallas reacting like that would be parallel to Rooney's kick to Carvalho's balls and Zidane's headbutt on Matterazzi: sometimes in football it is the clowns who win the day, while the virtuous ones are left to find their own justice...
