Going After Keepers

Jose Mourinho is justifiably upset about losing both Keepers in Chelsea's match with Reading today:

"Both are in hospital, both completely lost (consciousness), were completely knocked out," Mourinho told Sky Sports News. "The second one, Carlo, I think is a consequence of the way he hit the ground, but the first one, with what Petr has, I'm not sure if he's a Catholic, but...to be alive is a bit lucky. I think it was that bad. "The speed of the keeper sliding on the pitch and the knee coming in at speed, different directions, you can imagine the consequence of that. For me it was a disgrace." ( Yahoo Sports )

What concerns me above the health of the two players is the reaction or non-reaction around the injuries. I think that Hunt deserved a straight red for his deliberate knee to Czech's head. But neither of the commentators nor the referee seemed to want to see the truth of what happened. And now I think that the league should look at the aggression and suspend Hunt for atleast one match. Such play is not good for the game. Talent should only be beaten by talent despite how much people hate the fact the Chelsea has been able to buy so much of it. For years now another team that is not so rich but is rich in talent has been victimized too--and that is Arsenal. They get accussed on whining and diving and being arrogant and not having enough Englishmen in their side. But all they try to do is play winning, beautiful football--within the rules.

England made the rules of football years ago. If they did a better job of respecting and enforcing them today, their game and their talent would more readily grow...
