I think that it's very important for the manager to have a strong pressence in training.
When England's Brian Barwick speaks of new managers McClaren and Venables as being "tracksuit coaches" it strikes me as odd:
"(Venables) has great experience, he will get on the field. He is a tracksuit coach, as Steve is a tracksuit coach. It is two brains." (BBC)
Does this mean that Sven did not have as much a pressence on the pitch in training while the new regime of coaches will?
And will the new style of coaching make a difference to England's fortunes?
We shall see...
We shall see if two tracksuited brains are better than one who is too removed from the action...
