On the day of his unveiling in Madrid today Ruud Vannistelrooy discussed how his break with United manager Sir Alex Ferguson led to his departure.
Interestingly he had no harsh words for his ex-manager:
"I never got to say goodbye to Ferguson but there is plenty of time for that. I owe him a lot and that is why it was so painful." ( Yahoo Sports )
But it is strange isn't it that the two didn't say good-bye?
It suggests to me that Sir Alex did not want to see Ruud go. I am also reminded of Sir Alex's recent comment that Ruud had started to talk about leaving well over a year ago--before Sir Alex started playing Saha ahead of Ruud.
