Badges?

So Sol Campbell is like so many of us, ex-players or fans, wanting to run a team?

He has left Arsenal and while he tries to convince everyone that all is fine and that he will find a playing job abroad, he is already talking about what he will do when he is not playing:

"Did you know I am planning on taking my coaching badges?...Maybe one day I will be a coach or a manager but right now it is all just about playing football." (BBC 2006.07.23)

This seems strange to me. All of it. It sounds as though he is trying to convince himself of something.
