Offside Decoy


You may be right. We'll have to see.

But I think that the use of the second runner is a new tactic and a very effective one that will become a trend in this World Cup.

As I mentioned, it is exactly how Rieberry scored the first France goal in the later game today versus Spain--with Henry acting as the offside decoy.

I really think we'll see more and more of this "offside decoy" tactic--and we'll all be better off for it: more open play, more goals...

I think it's fascinating to watch the emergence of this tactic because it challenges one of the biggest constraints in the rules of football: the offside.

In an ideal world there would be no offsides at all...:)
