
Henry did indeed dive in that collision with Spain's Puyol yesterday. He just cannot admit it. In fact, he must deny it. To do otherwise would be foolish.
But we can look back at what he said after getting man-handled by Puyol in last months Champions League clash between Arsenal and Barcelona:
"Next time I'll learn to dive maybe, but I'm not a woman."
Henry has learned his lesson.
He learned that he cannot rely on the rules and the refs to allow him to use his talent.
This is what happens when the balance gets tipped too far one way with too much focus on diving: you have players like Puyol starting to foul more.
It is ironic that the new focus on eliminating diving has in this case actually led to diving: one of the best players in the world has taken his fate into his own hands because the rules do not protect his talent...
