Spurs midfielder Danny Murphy thinks that it's the pitch not the boots that has done in Wayne Rooney's foot.
He told BBC Radio Five Live: "I personally believe it's the pitches that are more of a factor than the boots because they are so firm...They are being made differently in the last five or six years. They're being made to a level which is more conducive to good football." (BBC 2006.05.03)
But I believe that it's a combination of things, the boots, the pitches...and the increasing power, speed and strength of footballers today. So much has gotten stronger and better in the game but bones have not.

I am forlorn at the loss of Wayne Rooney. It won't just be England that miss out either - it's a loss for everyone!
Truly is. A super player. Might be England's best, most important player...
