I just finished a FIFA Street match with my son.
The match was played on a rough Rio de Janiero street.
Cracked concrete underfoot. Flimsy chainlink fence. Two different
goals. One a passageway into the courtyard , with no mesh. The other a
wobbly wodden one.
Under the Lion emblem my son, who is 5 1/2 years old, is these days
playing the high ranking foursome of Beckham, Henri, Ronaldinho, with Cech
in goal.
I am using the Shark as my team logo and currently playing
Viera, Totti, Ronaldinho, with Toldo in goal.
After losing the first couple of matches to my son, I traded in Frank
Lampard, while my son inexplicably traded in Rooney for Beckham.
My son is into fashion and likes what Becks has to offer in that area.
Immediately upon acquiring him, my son went into the options menu and
gave David a nice red hooded jumper to replace the plain white one.
Strangely, his fortunes, much like those of Real Madrid, began to
decline with the acquisition of Becks.
And when you start to play FIFA Street you too will see why it is
important to choose your players wisely--if you want to win that is.
Street bills itself as a big on style but Becks offers the kind of
aesthetic qualities that don't do much for the winning or fun factors. He's
a very limited Street player.
And Becks doesn't really belong in Rio: the "City of God".
If you've ever seen the brilliant film about how street gangs took over
Rio, you'll understand why everyone can't play futebol there let alone
survive.
It's one tough place.
I managed to win the game today in Rio. The Sharks were 5-4 winners
over the Lions.
Can't say that my son was gracious in defeat. He's not a good loser.
The PC world will say that's not a good thing. However, being that way
may help him to survive in our cities of the future, cities like Rio. If
you are too accepting of defeat there it could cost you more than a
game; it could cost you your life.
I'm not so sure I want to raise a complete gentleman. I'd rather raise
someone who can survive, thrive and be a champion in life some day.
