"In the 1990s, when I was a professional footballer, young African players used to ask me for help. After I saw that desperate group in the Cameroon embassy, I toured the small pitches around Paris to find abandoned footballers. I asked them about their lives, how they had come to Europe and who had brought them here. I wrote their phone numbers in a little notebook. Since then, I’ve collected more than 700 numbers. There must be thousands of these players throughout Europe."
