Sore Losers: Croatia

Croatia/Hungary seek refund for failed Euro 2012 bid - World Soccer - Yahoo! Sports:

This is one of the craziest stories I've ever heard. Bidding to host a competition is inherrently risky. The whole idea behind bidding is that you put money behind your faith in your country and hope that others will validate you. But clearly the Croatia football body doesn't see it this way. It seems that Croatia believed that merely by investing cash they were entitled to win:

"Markovic and the FA were criticised by local media and the government for building up local expectations ahead of last Wednesday's UEFA decision in the Welsh city of Cardiff where not a single vote was cast for Croatia and Hungary. "
