William Gallas is one of the best centrebacks in the world but he has often been forced to play out of position at Chelsea. He has repeatedly asked for a transfer from the club and even come straight out and said that he wants to play for Milan.
I think that Chelsea coach Mourinho doesn't have much choice now but to transfer him after Gallas did not turn up for the team's training camp in the USA. Gallas is clearly more determined than ever to not play for the club. Given the brazen decision to not turn up I am left thinking that Gallas's unhappiness is about more than position or a contract (he is in the middle of negotiations). It think that Gallas now simply doesn't like to play for Chelsea or Mourinho. I think that all along he has wanted to go to a different team because he doesn't like Chelsea.
And now I can't imagine him returning there as Mourinho has given his number 13 to Michael Ballack and said:
"Everybody is upset because we had a strong family and a strong group and this has shown a lack of respect to everybody. And I don't like that." ( Yahoo Sports )
