Blah, blah, blah.
Is that all that the great coaches have going for them?
Jim Magilton has been confirmed as the new boss of Ipswich on a two-year deal and this is what he promises the club:
"The supporters can identify with me - I wear my heart on my sleeve and they're going to get passion and a will to win." (BBC 2006.06.06)
How about the ability to teach technique, develop players, build a system, a style of play and introduce tactics that work? Why not talk about that?
I'm tired of these rah-rah guys who trumpet pride and bravery and only end up becoming bullies in the end.
Souness comes to mind here.
If I were hiring for my team I'd ask prospective managers to bring their brains into my office and leave their hearts at the door...
