He is Arsenal's talisman. It is hard to find many more effective leaders and players in world football. By staying, he really cements Arsenal's future above and beyond the magical youth movement Wenger has going. His staying means that Arsenal will be an even bigger factor next year, especially I think, in the Premiership. With Chelsea now in a bit of disarray and United and Liverpool still lacking in a variety of areas, Henry and Wenger could conceivably lead Arsenal to the league championship next season--all the while playing beautiful football :-)
