Pat Nevin analyzes Chelsea's tactical changes this season for the BBC.
"Mourinho has won the championship twice in a row, so he will be thinking, what is there to add?...One thing is to win the league next season with more style. And with that formation, I think he would."
Nevin speculates that Chelsea may move to the 4-2-2-2 system that only the Brazilian national team has been able to perfect.
I have to admit that I have too vigorously defended Chelsea's style. I think that I have confused the individual technique of the great players they have bought with the collective style of the team which I agree has been a rather direct style.
Perhaps this change in tactics will also help them to overcome the scintillating Barcelona style for which they had no answer in the Champions League...
