On another planet

We all still love the FA Cup for so many reasons. We do love the romantic upsets. But I think also we enjoy seeing how much better the real stars of the game are.

After Chelsea's narrow 2-1 win over Huddersfield Town the BBC reported that while the Huddersfield manager "Peter Jackson had asked his players ...to get the ball down and play football whenever possible...for large periods Town were unable to cope with the pace of the game and Chelsea's movement...Damien Duff, Joe Cole and Shaun Wright-Phillips were at times on another planet, easing past opponents at will and slicing open the Town defence with their pace and trickery.

That's where excellence, greatness and beauty take us: outter space and elsewhere; into a beyond outside reality.

And the FA Cup can take us still to those magical places.
